The Obedient Rebel

You Don't Need More—You Need to See More

Episode Summary

What if the thing you need isn’t actually missing—you just haven’t recognized it as a resource yet? In this episode, Allyson explores the difference between having resources and being resourceful. From money and connections to skills, opportunities, and even answers we’ve already received, sometimes our next step is closer than we think. Through real estate investing, personal experience, and the story of David and Goliath, she shares how learning to look again can change the way we approach problems, opportunities, and uncertainty. Because sometimes you genuinely need more. But sometimes, you don’t need more—you need to see more.

Episode Notes

What if the thing you need isn’t actually missing?

Sometimes we’re so focused on getting more—more money, more time, more knowledge, more connections, more opportunities—that we overlook what’s already available to us.

In this episode, I’m talking about the difference between having resources and becoming resourceful.

We’ll explore why our brains naturally focus on what’s missing, how investors learn to see possibilities other people overlook, and why stewardship often begins with recognizing what God has already placed in our hands.

I also share the story of David and Goliath and the powerful reminder that David didn’t need Saul’s armor. He needed to recognize the value of what he had already been prepared to use.

In this episode, we’ll talk about:
• Why “I need more” can become an automatic explanation for feeling stuck
• How to recognize resources that don’t look like resources at first
• The difference between having resources and being resourceful
• Why real estate investing trains you to look at problems differently
• How fear and expectations can keep us from seeing opportunities
• What David’s story teaches us about using what’s already in our hands
• The connection between resourcefulness, stewardship, and expansion
• One question to ask before searching for another strategy, connection, or answer

This week, ask yourself:

“What do I already have access to that I’m not fully seeing or using?”

And then:

“What could I do with it?”

Because sometimes you genuinely do need more.

But sometimes you don’t need more.

You need to see more.
